(Washington, 25 April 2025) – During her official visit to Washington, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan signed a financing agreement worth EUR 200 million with KfW, further supporting Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision and complementing the existing program provided by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Christine Toetzke, Director-General at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in Germany, commented on the agreement: “The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a close partner to Germany. The Government of Germany commends the ambitious Jordanian reform agenda and the commitment of the Jordanian government and its people to hosting as many refugees from the region. The instrument of a so-called Untied Financial Credit is a rare and deliberately chosen instrument by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. Mutually applying this measure with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan underlines the trustful Jordanian-German partnership. We hope that the additional financial support from the German Government will allow Jordan to continue the successful implementation of its multifaceted reform path.”
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan expressed her appreciation to the German Government and KfW, stating, “We highly appreciate the unwavering support of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and KfW. This financing agreement supports Jordan’s fiscal and economic stabilization in light of the continued pursuit of sound macroeconomic policies and reform progress. It will play a crucial role in accelerating the realization of Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision and implementing its ambitious reform agenda.”
Dr. Andrea Hauser, a member of KfW’s Management Committee, also commented on the agreement: “KfW is honored to extend this Untied Financial Credit, committed by the Government of Germany to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This support comes at a pivotal moment, helping Jordan advance its comprehensive modernization and growth strategy.”
