Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Ms. Zeina Toukan met with the EBRD’s new Managing Director for the SMED region, Mr. Mark Davis to discuss new the EBRD’s new Country Strategy for 2025-2030. Priorities within the Strategy are centered around three strategic goals that are aligned towards supporting the achievement of Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision (EMV) including fostering a more competitive economy, supporting green transition and infrastructure investments, and promoting human capital development and access to equal opportunities.
During the meeting Minister Toukan welcome Mr. Davis to Jordan and expressed her gratitude to EBRD for their ongoing and growing support within various sectors. She also focused on the importance of increasing support to the private sector as a main partner to achieving the EMV’s investment objectives and touched upon some possible new investment and PPP projects within the energy, water, mining, textiles, digital transformation and ICT service sectors.
The meeting also covered the EBRD’s existing investments across various sectors. It was attended by Mr. Glenn Purves, Board Director representing Jordan in the EBRD, Mr. Tarek Osman Associate Director and Ms. Gretchen Berry, Head of the EBRD’s Office in Amman and the EBRD's operations in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
EBRD’s total investment envelope has grown to almost EUR 2.2bn since the start of its operations in the Kingdom in 2012.
